Faces to the Sun

The children's sermon at church reminded me of these pictures that I took last summer.
Sunflowers open their faces to the sun every morning and then follow the sun all day, until it goes down at night.

Oh, how I want to be like that! I want to wake up open to Son. I want to follow Him all day long. And when I lay my head down at night, I want to go to sleep knowing that I did my best to be more like Him.

Letting Go

One month ago today I let go of my babies.

I realize they were not really MY babies, but when they moved into our home, they moved into my heart. There is any empty space there now, but I am trusting my great big God to fill it up with Himself.
I do not know why they were only here for a short time. But I do know that I will pray for them and love them always.

The Games of the First Pullin Olympiad

This week we learned about the early Olympic games as part of our history lessons. Naturally, we had to have our own games.

As a part of our games,we had sprints:

javelin throwing:

and, pole vaulting:

I think I see gold medals in their futures!

Off we go...

into the wild blue yonder!

Today we went on a field trip. A traveling exhibit of WWII planes was in our area, so we went to see them. We had such a great time. We were able to get into the planes and climb around and see the bombs and the guns which, of course, is the best part! (Especially if you are a boy in the 6-10 year range). We also saw several military jets and helicopters land and take off again.

What a terrific way to spend a school day!
